What Exactly Is Healing Energy Art?.
What is the definition of healing art? Healing properties of artistic paintings have been known for centuries. Viewing art makes people feel better. It has a positive impact on them. Why is this the case?
“Variety of form and brilliancy of color in the object presented to patients are an actual means of recovery.” – Florence Nightingale
According to the first law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted to a different form. The universe is made up of various forms of matter and energy. In fact, the average human body stores a significant amount of potential energy, which it converts to chemical, thermal, or exhaust energy as needed to get you through the day and night. Your brain alone consumes approximately 27% of your total energy.
The universe as a whole, according to futurism.com, is closed. (Author’s note: This theory assumes it is somehow limited, and thus no energy escapes or enters the universe.) Human bodies (and other ecosystems) are not closed systems; rather, they are open systems. We exchange energy with the environment. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, we can convert energy.
In death, the atoms that make up your body (a universe within a universe) are repurposed. Those atoms and energy that were created during the Big Bang will always exist. As a result, your ‘light,’ or the essence of your energy (as opposed to your actual consciousness), will continue to echo throughout space until the end of time. (Author’s note: In that sense, at least some of us are immortal.)
To me, seeing an interesting painting is more than just seeing a pleasant scene with pretty colors. I believe there is also an energy exchange. We exchange energy throughout the day, every day. Why should it be any different when we interact with a work of art?
There is energy swirling around my studio, my canvas, and the paints and other materials that I use when I create a new piece of healing energy art. I have no doubt that some of this energy is being absorbed by the art that I am making. As an energy healer, I also exchange my own energy and channel additional energy from the earth and the universe into it. Most of my art pieces have movement to them. This is how energy appears to me. Constant movement. My healing energy art paintings are full of energy. That is why I enjoy making them.
“At the deepest level, the creative process and the healing process arise from a single source. When you are an artist, you are a healer; a wordless trust of the same mystery is the foundation of your work and its integrity.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen, MD
It’s not like painting a well-known subject like a landscape. I never know how the finished painting will turn out with energy paintings because the energy is still moving long after I finish it! That is amazing and stimulating in and of itself.
Art classes are a more common type of healing or therapeutic art that is used in conjunction with medical care in cases of emotional or mental illnesses such as anxiety, bipolar and other disorders, depression, stress, and PTSD. The patient learns to draw or paint here, either alone or in small groups. The goal is to divert the patient’s attention away from his or her problems for a short time while he or she is absorbed in the creative process. Hopefully, the patients will begin to spend more time creating art, which will help them regain lost confidence and a desire to improve. A popular form of therapeutic art is drawing and coloring a mandala.
By transferring energy into my paintings, I encourage people to use the painting as a focal point and to interact and exchange energy with their painting at home (or office/workplace). This is only meant to supplement their doctor’s care, treatment, and advice. While I do have doctorates, they are academic in nature. I am not a physician and do not practice medicine. People who are ill should see their primary care physician or another healthcare professional.
Energy is an unseen force, as is wind, and other energy sources such as radio, TV, and Internet waves, so there will always be skeptics, but according to the Washington Post, ‘according to a UCLA study, more than 60 U.S. hospitals have adopted Reiki as part of patient services, and Reiki education is offered at 800 hospitals.’
Reiki practitioners do not cure people. We merely serve as a conduit for universal energy to be channeled through ourselves to those who seek our assistance. Given the size of the universe, of which we have only discovered about 5%, there is a massive amount of energy ready and willing to assist.
Scientists hypothesize that 68 percent of the universe is made up of ‘dark’ or unknown energy, which would equal the amount of ‘positive’ energy present, canceling each other out. For my money, they may cancel each other out, but they must both exist in order to do so, don’t they? In any case, it’s all theory. There is energy. Energy can’t be created or destroyed. Only change or transfer of energy is possible.
